Joshua received specific instructions on how to use "this book of the law", known to us today as the Holy Bible.
God promised Joshua if he walked in these principles, he would make his way prosperous and have good success.

Strive: To make earnest effort to achieve or obtain something.
REAPING THE HARVEST
Joshua 1:8 concludes; for then thou shalt make thy wayprosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
This is the principle of Reaping the Harvest by standing firm in expectation.
Stand: To endure, bear patiently or undergo successfully.
